wheel back spacing for 8 1/2-18"

I have some 18-10 rear and 18-8 1/2 front wheels. The rears fit perfect, but I'm unsure about the fronts. The distance from the back of the rim to the inside mounting face is 5 1/2" exactly. When I space the wheel out 1/2 inch, it seems to fit better. Anybody have wheels this size that knows the correct back spacing?

back spacing for 89 GTA

I forgot to mention, this is on an 89 GTA.

Engine: Procharged 406.

Transmission: T-56

Axle/Gears: Moser 9" 4.11 Gears

I have 18" rims on my 92 camaro.

18 x 8.5 (front) with a negative 4.5 spacing.

18x 9.5 (rear) with a negative 5.5 spacing.

my wheels fit absolutely perfect. You might have just a hair too much spacing in the front.
