Upgrading my drum brakes

I have an '86 Firebird and am putting in a big block and consequently want to upgrade my brakes. I don't have the money to convert the rear to disc brakes, but I remembered a Car Craft article a while back that talked about upgrading drum brakes. The problem is I've lost that magazine, so does anyone know what I'm talking about? Any ideas on how to upgrade mine? Thanks for the help!
John

I believe what they did was buy 2 sets of shoes and used only the larger size shoes for both the primary and seconday shoes.
