REAR DISK BRAKE HELP!!!...Anyone with them...w/in

OK I have a question....Im working on hooking up my new brake system in the rear and ran across an interesting (to me anyway) discovery.... WHY on my old 9 bolt rear is 1 disk caliper(pASS sIDE) Towards the front then the OTHER disk caliper (DRIVERS sIDE) TOWARDS THE REAR???

Is there any mechanical reason for this?? So far since finding this every other car Ive looked at either has both faceing foreward or both facing the rear......

When hooking up my new brake system would there be any disadvantage to having them both face foraward or backward OR should I just leave them the same....

I have to have new lines made and have a custom e-brake so Basically I will RE-Use NOTHING....

So starting from scratch....what should or could I do...

Any help on this would be appreciated...

Yeah, on my '84 rear calipers, if you remove the parking brake lever and bracket, the calipers look exactly the same from the back.
