Pic of the shims needed for the drum to disc conversion
I am almost finished with the conversion. The pic attached shows you how much/many shims are needed to get the caliper cage centered on the rotor. I am debating having a single steel shim made so I can get rid of the slew of brass ones that I have been slaving over to make... what do you guys think?

I know that the calipers are able to move around a little bit. The rotor (when the lugnuts are tightened) fits very nicely inbetween the two sides of the caliper cage.

Just a reminder to anyone who may get confused (like I did originally):
Only disc brakes which use a carrier have to worry about this.
The 82-88 brakes don't have this issue (probably the ONLY good thing about them, LOL).
