tbi on a 283
tbi on a 283
I have a friend that has a tbi on a 283 cubic inch motor that has been bored 30 or 60 over with flat pistons and early style heads. The cam was changed to one that should support the tbi and computer. What injectors should we try in this thing? What about a base time setting? I haven't heard it run since it left my shop to be finished by owners brother. I heard from few people that it doesn't like to take fuel to good. That is why I think the timing is off or the 350 injectors are putting to much fuel to it. It is using a stock gm harness from a truck with a holley pump and the 7747 computer chip is the same as one recommended by painless in their support book.
teh 350 injectors may be a bit too large for that motor unless you have a pretty good sized cam. try turning hte fuel pressure down a bit to start. the base timing from teh factory on bopth 305 and 350 is 0degrees with the electronic advance disconnected at warm idle. with a little bit of a cam you can use this as a starting point.
