Making A TBI Spacer

I have two pieces of phenolic material, 1/2" and 1" thick, that I will be making a spacer from. Will see some gains by using a 1/2" spacer? Is anyone using a 1' spacer with a stock hood without any clearance problems?

i am using a 1" spacer with no clearance problems after i cut the air cleaner stud shorter with a dremel. u gotta switch the cruise and the accelerator cables from the bracket otherwise they may not reach. u gotta grind off or file off the little wedgfe sticking out of the hole where the cruise was
