early 90's caprice

hey i am wondering if the early 90's caprice engines are roller or flat tappet.. one of these cars should be kind of easy to find and take the 5.7L engine and injectors right??? straight foward and easy swap... does the caprice lo5 have a peanut cam also??? just get some cheap l98 heads or vortecs and lt1 cam if needed... budget 350.... sound good and easy right??? so many ideas going through my head...

i just got a new job more money coming in...

Yes they are roller cams. And the L05 cam stinks almost as much as the L03.
L98 or vortec heads and an Lt1 cam would make an awesome combination on an L05.

are these cars hard to come by? or is it that many people just dont want to take the time.. you can even take the caprice chip i mean it sounds so straight foward... lets see how hard it is to findone.. i'll wait until my first paycheck to look though...

yuo can find l98 heads relatively cheap right? i was looking in the classifieds and found soem for 100 dollars... thats what i am looking at..

lt1 cam,l98 heads, edelbrock intake,lo5.. that all looks good right and should work well together?

if so i am on to planning my suspension/drivetrain mods... i already got 3.42's and posi under my computer desk. :lala:

I believe it has to be a 93 to have the 350 TBI. 94 and up have the LT1 and 91-92 have the l03. The cam is small but makes 300 ft-lbs as stock. 350 block is the number 7 in the 8th place. Probably need a chip made for the LT1 cam but it is a reasonably priced way to gain performance.

Almost right Paul. The 7 for the VIN is correct. But expand your search all the way back to 1989. That was the first year for the L05 in the Caprice 9C1 package.

i picked up a pair of 65# 9C1 injectors and the chip on e-bay for 45 bucks. Keep out an eye, you will find some.
