shorter pushrods
would shorter pushrods cause a loss in power? i sent my car to a shop today cuz i couldnt figure out what was wrong and he told me with my setup the pushrod are too short so he put longer ones in.
i hope you didn't pay him for it.
teh only way that you woudl need a longer push rod is if the crane lifters have a deeper cup than the stockers. if you put a longer push rod in you are risking adn the cup depth is the same then you are looking at side loading the rocker, rocker stud, and valve tip. it is not likely that the push rod lenth is wrong or that it woudl even be a place that anyoen would look for a power loss.
the only tiem anyone woudl check teh valve train formt eh top to look for power loss is if the engien suddenly had a complete lack of vacuum in a cyl or if there was a horrible noise coming from teh valve train.
first of all, make sure you get the push rods he removed back. tehn pull the valve cover off at home and make sure there are new ones in there and that they are actually a different length.
i woudl be very very suspicious of this guy.

i talked to the guy today, he said that 3 of the pushrods were bent... i saw when he took the old ones out and he rolled them on glass and they made a ticking noise that the rest didnt so i know something was wrong with the pushrods. he changed them because he said with my setup i should use longer pushrods sonce everything was already opened and i didnt replace them b4 might as well do it now... well the cars not done yet. he changed the pushrods, rockerarms, and car still runs like **** and backfires...hes confused now too. this is the 3rd mechanic looking at it. people on the boards told me to take the cat out and see if it helps, no luck. those rockers have been continuously adjusted thinking that was the problem by different mechanics but i didnt pay anyone because it never fixed the problem. for some reason i beat a new 4.6 mustang my friend as before this problem occured but now i lost to a ford windstar by over 3 ca rlengths..completely stock windstar. that was my friend;s mom's which i told him to race me in because i was wondering how slow my car really was. anyone have any other ideas!?!?! timing, ignition, fual all checks out ok
