What RPM to check timing?
I have always checked the timing by myself without anyones help. I decided to mess with it today and try a little more base timing. I have it set to 4* right now but thought that i would try 6*. Anyways I first checked the timing where it was at idel and it was at 4*, when someone stepped on the gas (2000 RPM) it jumped right to the edge of the timing tab. I didn't think the timing advanced as the motor acceclerated. I understand that there is a total advance but I thought the computer did that when it was plugged in. And yes I did disconect the EPS bybass thingy over the left side strut. Should I always just check and change the timing at idle?
depends how you go about setting your timing. if you set it withthe est connected you will see it read about 10-12 when it is at 4 degrees of actualk base timing. or you can be very scientific(this is my favorite way to do it) and just advance teh thing until it starts to ping and then back off until it stops
either way you shoudl do it at idle

I went ahead and reset it at idle. I went around the block and it knocked pretty bad so I cut back a bit and now it runs without knocking. It is hard to get a really accurate adjustment though. Seems like the light jumps around a little. Oh well, I have no knock and the RPM at Idle is at 500

Ok the car runs fine and so far it doesn't like that much timing. My next questions is how do you bump the idle up. When the car gets reallt hot (sitting in traffic) it idels at like 500 but when the car is warm and at normal temp she will dle between 600 and 700. If I have the AC on the car will almost stall at idle but catch itself. Why does it do this. My timing is at 4*.
