I need help my TBI wont start
i know this is sort of general tech but i can never get any help anywhere except the TBI board (feel the love) anyways i guess this is related because most guys on the tech board dont have the ignition we do they have HEI...anyways ok car died on me yesterday i was flying out a backroad when the tachs all went to 0 but the car did not lose power steering, brakes ect. i cruised a good mile at around 50-60ish id say till i tapped the gas and then everything went out...now the car wont start...im getting plenty of fuel and it cranks fine. i took off a couple plugs and grounded then to the block...nothing no fire. i first thought maybe the coil well its a 3 month old hypertech coil i cant see it going out already but i guess it could. i had the ignition module checked its fine plus i bought a new one before the other was tested and it wouldnt work. i just bought an ignition pickup (i think thats what it is) that goes into the distributer (what the igintion module plugs into) think this could be it? for some reason im getting no spark...i have a new cap, coil, rotor, plugs, accel wires...how would i know if the distributer was bad??

Friend of mine had a similar problem with his 78 T/A.
The problem was a broken wire in a little 3 wire harness that plugged into his coil or distributer (I can't remember now), you couldn't see the spot it was bad, had to use a meter to check it and find the bad wire.
I'd start checking stuff with a volt meter. Don't take anything for grant and work in logic manner and you'll find it.
Good Luck

what fuses? what about the fuse thats between the coil and ignition module? i replaced the pickup in the distributer....it was fried but still no start...no fire anywhere..not to the plugs or off the cap....wth this is pissing me off i need the car this week but looks like im stuck driving the beater again
i feel stupid...after testing some stuff with my voltmeter and actually thinking about how everything worked i tried replacing the coil and waalaa car started right up with no problems...i feel stupid now oh well i replaced a much needed ignition pickup but ended up having to buy a timing light to get the timing right again.
