FP is waaaay too high and wont change...

i have been adjusting my fuel pressure all over the place, but it is not changing. when i turn the key to the "on" position, the FP goes to 17 pounds while the fuel pump primes the fuel system or whatever. then, at idle is at about 19-20 pounds, and when the rpms go up it is anywhere from 19-23ish pounds.

what the hell is going on? i have turned the screw on the FPR both ways with NO change.

i am using a stock spring in the FPR.

could my FP gauge be in the wrong spot? i have it on the feed line about 8 inches away from the throttle body.

any suggestions?

Wow...seems like you've been having some problems. My van has also started acting wierd lately...I wonder if the gov'ment is sneaking some more $hit into the gas...

Anyway, go to the hardware store and get a lighter spring for the FPR. Worth a shot since you have it bottomed out and it won't go any lower.

I don't think the location of the FP gauge is very critical since 13 psi of fuel pressure should be 13 psi down the entire feed line.

Sorry Brian, I can't figure your problem. FP should remain very constant, not vary with RPM. Your description of where the gage is, is the correct location.

That pressure sounds very high for TBI. Mine runs constant at about 11psi. I have experimented with the vAFPR and it caused the FP to go as high as 18psi- with the very heavy spring.

Hopefully, this info might help you.

that sounds like what happened when the spring on my stock regulator broke. car used to sit at about 9.5psi stock, then one day the car started runnign super rich and you coudl see how much gas was coming out. opened up the regulator and foudn the spring had broken and sort of doubled up and locked itself in place somehow and took teh fp all teh way to 15.5psi.

later

Get back to us on this, I'm curious to see what the problem was. Are you using the holley or the rochester injector pod?

something has to be in the way of the return line.

Either that or your pump has been possessed and wants an engine with more power.
