Installing some new goodies

Well I started to install all the stuff I accumulated last winter. Namely ported and gasket matched S/R torquers, ZZ4 cam, 1.5 roller rockers, and today I decided to add a performer RPM intake. I also got bought some Edelbrock Elite series valve covers and air cleaner to dress it up alittle. Going to have to replumb a few things for the intake manifold and allso make an adapter plate. I was able to install the cam again (I put a LT1 cam in last year) with out disconecting the air conditioning stuff. I just pivioted it up out of the way. Putting the timing chain cover back in was a real bear, but I finally got it. Lots of rtv, I hope it doesn't leak. I got sick of the air tubes on my headers so I broke them off. I'll weld the holes shut tomorrow. I can get to my plugs and header bolts from the top now. I'll allso be getting rid of the extra heater hoses and the vacume switch thingy. Probably take awhile to to get everything dialed in, but I will keep you all posted.

Got done installing everything today. It took awhile adapting everything over to the performer rpm manifold. That and I been watching basketball games every night. I had to go to a shorter (2 1/2") air cleaner element to be abile to shut the hood. My homemade adapter plate is made out of 1/4" mat or I would have needed a even shorter air cleaner yet.
Well, it starts, runs, and drives with a hypertec chip (came with the car). It even idles in gear with the air on. All I have done so far is time it to 8* and drive it alittle to see how everything settles in. I have no leaks and the temp is normal so that is a good start.
Needs some serious chip tuning as it feels very slugish all around.
Right now I'm thinking that a ZZ4 cam is plenty for a 305.
I definently need to get a pocket programer.

Joker, good to hear everything went well with all that work. I just finished some similar work, but only an LT1 cam and the Performer TBI intake, not RPM. I hope your timing cover doesn't leak... I'm a bit nervous about mine, too (but not nervous enough to go through the hassle of dropping the oil pan and doing it right).

Did you get rid of that heater hose mess on the passenger side? I was just wondering, if you did, if you ran the hose from the back of the intake to the heater core, then from the heater core to the radiator (and cap off that T on the solid line), or if you ran a hose from the top of your water pump back to the heater core, like some other people here? I did the intake-->heater core, and was just wondering if there were any relative +s/-s...

I went from the intake to the heater core and got rid of the extra hoses. I guess I forgot to check and see if it was heating correctly. Maybe someone else knows the +/- of connecting it this way.
