Can I use a normal carb intake and put the TB on it? I was thinking of finding a spacer to use under the TB..

I'm putting a vortec 350 into a 91 chev pickup.
I'm sure theres a few vortec TBIers around, any issues with doing such a swap? since these heads aren't equipped with EGR, can I easily bypass it someway? we don't have emissions up here.

 

what you can do to "bypass" the egr is just put a check valve on teh end of the vacuum lead that goes to teh valve itself. plug any extra ports on it too. it allows the controller to draw some vacuum in adn think it opened the valve so you won't pitch any codes or anything.

You might run into problems with too much timing advance if you don't burn a new chip and have the egr turned off.

Might wanna ask JPrevost about that. I don't know if Jon has the adapter, but I'm betting that he does.

 

I burn my own eproms, EGR is disabled, problem solved and yes, car passes the sniff test.

 

I just finished up my 93' Burban, It has a Vortec 350 with TBI. Pace Pontiac had Superchips burn me an eprom and it works great. I run an edelbrock cam. Disabling the egr may be easy, but all you have to do to run it is buy a 96' chevy truck driver side exhaust manifold, a gm bowtie TBI conversion manifold and use the 96' chevy truck egr tube and you have functioning egr. Better fuel economy and lower cruising temps are also what you get when using the egr. The emissions test wont even test for anything the egr does, it only comes on at partial throttle under load. I did find I needed a fuel psi regulator. The truck runs good with about 17psi at the TBI.:lala: I speculate its about 290hp.
