Pickup coil
I am still trying to chase down my high RPM weirdness. It's that push-pull that happens above 4000rpms, but not all the time. Sometimes it won't push-pull...it will just die off and not come back (still accelerates though, just a lot slower than 2 seconds before).
I have new plugs, cap/rotor, MSD coil, fuel filter. I ordered an AC Delco pickup coil and will put that in soon. I have a misfire at idle, and maybe that is what's happening at 4000+ RPM. The only thing left to change is the pickup coil, right? After that, I will try fuel pump (I have been given an LT1 fuel pump from a B-Body that should drop right into my assembly).
I think I am close to nailing this.
When I first gutted the cat, the car was winding out great - I eeked out a 7.2-7.3 0-60 on the GTech. Just recently, I managed a 7.5....I think those tenths are lost in the 4000-shift point RPM range.
If I'm gonna get my 15.6x, I'm going to need a properly running L05.
Thanks in advance for any help or comments.

you may wanna get a trans recall kit. since your tranny is column shift i woudln't risk trying to play with it that way, but b&m sells a kit that contains other weights and springs that you can put in the governor to raise the shift points. i am sure that shifting the LO5 woudl be good around 5000, just like with the LO3.
your misfire sounds like a pick up problem. that will be an easy fix for ya.

Actually, that IS something I would need to look into after I install the LT1 cam, but that's not what I meant above. I meant 4000rpm to the shift point RPM, not "4000rpm shift point."
Sorry if that was unclear.
But yeah, it's gotta be the pickup coil. I do lose up to 1 psi of fuel pressure during WOT but it's going from 15 to 14, and that should be enough fuel pressure for a stock L05 with opened intake + exhaust. I am considering doing the ultimate TBI mods myself, also.
