just looken for a bit more oomf
i am droping a new motor in my 5600 # truck it is a 88 with a TBI 350 in it. all i am looking for is a way to get a bit more power. i would like to keep the stock computer and chip what can i add to the motor that will not make me have to burn a new chip for it. it is my only ride so i am trying to keep the down time short. thanks guys.
Anything that will help the engine breathe better will improve the power output potential. Intake/full exhaust with fuel pressure modification it a great place to start. the how to's on the intake/ fpr are in the tech articles. As far as the exhaust your local muffler shop can get you what you need. While the motor out of the truck it is the best time to put on the new goodies (i.e. headers seem to be alot easier to install when out of the engine bay)
Just my 2 cent...hope it helps!

no i am just trying to keep the torque up i couldnt care les about how hard it pulls over 5000 rpm this is going in a 5600 # truck so i need the torque. i was looking at a set of dart iron eagles with 200 cc intake ports but i was told that with the tbi i would have to get a chipmade up. i am going to do the engine swap in one week end and the truck has to be running by monday so that i can get to work.

Is this your first swap? good thing to do is take all the time you expect to do the swap and multiply it by about two. You never know what problems youll run into. Pulled my old 305 and put in my 350 in about three days once i got all the parts together. However, now im having fuel starvation problems. Always alow more time, you never know what youll run into, or just be ready to get a rental just in case.

my uncle will be doing most of it with me helping out a bit he works for a dealer and has done over 60 swaps. he told me that he can yank the old motor and have the new one in it running in about 7 hours if there is no thing wrong with the motor that i give him. there wont be due to the fact that i am geting a crate motor (me croses fingers) so ya i did double it. the thing that i am trying to avoid its lenthy ship burning time. i do not mind doing some burns after the truck is going i just dont want it down ore than about 3 days (use a sick call) well guys i thank you again.
