best choice..1.5 or 1.6 with LT4 cam?
best choice..1.5 or 1.6 with LT4 cam?
Debating the use of 1.5 or 1.6 stamped rockers with the LT4 cam for my 350TBI truck.
Mods are: 14101083 TPI heads, .030 H345P flat top pistons, stock intake, stock prom, stock TBI, shortie headers, gutted cat, flowmaster 3" single catback, KN filter, TBI spacer, 3.42 axle ratio, 4L60E tranny with stock converter, 27" tires. I have installed the LT4 springs and matching lightweight retainers. I also smoothed down the sharp edges below the valve seats along with a three angle valve job. The cam is 203/210@.050 .476/.480 with 1.6 and 201/2.08@.050 .446/.450 with 1.5. The truck weighs in excess of 4000lbs and is a daily driver that does not pull loads. Your thoughts and experience with this combo would be appreciated.
Thanks
Lonnie

personally i would go with 1.52 if there avaible for you application.. .. a bit more then strait 1.5 but not as much as 1.6.. of course i also depends on if you have emmisions to worrry about..

Thanks for the reply, I realize changing rocker ratios does not physically change the duration of a given camshaft but i have read in a number of tech articles from reliable sources that changing from 1.5 to 1.6 makes the cam act as if it had 2 degrees more duration @.050. Whether it does or not does not matter, 2 degrees is a small amount. I am most concerned with the effect of the extra lift with my combo.
