Vortec Swap and keeping EGR

I just bought a pair of vortec heads off ebay for a price I couldn't pass up. I did this before really looking into the swap process onto my 305 TBI. From what I've read now it seems like maintaining the EGR is a problem. Is there some way to get around this? This car absolutely has to be smogged.
Thanks,
----Ryan

looks like you'll have to get the Vortec TBI intake and cross your fingers they won't want a C.A.R.B. number for it. Maybe paint it black like stock.

there are vortec intakes that have EGR provisions, then you just have to plumb a line off one of your exhaust manifolds/headers to the EGR valve. Look at the 330HP motor at go auto center, they have the tube listed in the accesories at the bottom.

I read an article on swapping a ZZ4 into a 86 Camaro that was originally equiped with an L69. SuperChevy did the swap with a complete retrofit package from GM, they stated that it wasn't nessasary to use egr as the ZZ4 has no provision for it. This was also done in Ca. You might want to check into it yourself. If you want to read the article go to SuperChevy's web site.

That's for carbs and the "package" is expensive and out of date.

Tas, you are correct, but wouldn't emissions requirments be the same?

its hard to say. If you're using a carb intake(for example) with the C.A.R.B. E.O. number on it they might let you use the part. I've never asked a smog tech referee so I can't say really. As for putting a 350 where your 305 is, they can't look inside your engine so as long as you pass the sniffer and have smog legal parts for the visual inspection it should be cool.
