i have a 92 rs 305 tbi autoits all stock no mods.i have a 273 gears i was wondering if i got a 342 v6 rear would that improve the car would it be worth it.

 

Yeah but don't go higher than 3.42's. The gears have to match the engine. What mods are you planning down the road?

 

with full exhaust and 3.73 i gained .8 tenths of a sec. I I had slicks it would be a full second gain.
If you plan on modifing the motor I would say 3.73's. I think these gears a great:lala:

 

I also opted for the 3.42's for my 92 RS 305 TBI, made my car feel like a totally different car, much better than the stock 2.73's.

 

i ws gonna do it the cheap way and go find a a 6 cylinder bird or camaro from te junk yard and get the whole rearend with the 342 in it.what 6 cylinders have that rearend and is that worth it or should i just by the gears? one of my buddys has a camaro same motor 305tbi but has the 5 speed and 308 gears and was wondering if it would be worth it for him also or to move up to 373

 

I improved my e/t by .5 after putting 3.27 w/posi into my car. Now I got 3.73's w/posi but didnt get much runs to test it.
