Electric Fuel Pump Question

Today I was passing a truck when my engine died. I coasted to the emergency lane and tried to start the car but, it wouldn't start. The engine would crank over and the battery voltage was good so I looked at the fuel gauge to make sure I had fuel and it looked sort of low but not empty. I wanted to know, when the electric fuel pump dies does it just stop working Immediately or does it show signs of wear? Also, if the fuel pump relay was bad would this be the reason my engine just stopped?

yep... a fuel pump or the fuel pump relay can die unexpectedly. If you dont hear teh pump come on when you turn the key to the on position, the fp or the fp relay are most likely bad.
