Ok for some reason while i was out and about, and the car was running fine, all of the sudden i notice an inabillity to accelerate past 70mph and a general difficulty reving higher that ruffly (thanks screwed up tach) 3500-4k. I checked to see that the throttle cable hadn't gotten out of adjustment, slipped ect and it was fine, wide open was wide open. All of the plug wires seem to be connected (not going to tell for sure until it cools down a bit) and nothing seems to be causeing a drag. My brakes aren't hanging so that can't be it. The trans isn't makeing funny noises and neither is the rear end. Niether are vibrateing or anything that i can tell. Any idea's? I am gonna let it cool down and see if it comes back or not.

 

Sounds fuel related...

Check your fuel filter first to make sure it isnt plugged up.

 

Well it seems to be heat related now. I went out about 45 minutes after the post and started it and it revend and seemed to be back to normal. Is there anything in the fuel line that might get hot enough in the engine bay to cause problems?

 

catalytic converter plugged? fuel pump getting weak?

 

I actually think it may be something to do with my trans but before i get there here is what i have to say on the cat. I would notice a general loss in power hot or cold. Even after warming up on my way home this morning it ran just fine. Fuel pump may be getting worn, not sure at 79kmiles if that is common, but who knows. I think it may be my trans because of a few things. 1st it has always shifted at wot from 2nd-3rd and now is giveing me fits about it. 2nd when the engine wasn't reving (this maybe unrelated as well) it would try to kick into 2nd gear running about 65mph or so which immediatly puts the rpms up so high that there is no accel. and a general loss in speed. I dunno, i am gonna take it easy the next few days and when i get back from our trip (not taking the camaro) i will check around a bit more. Maybe change the trans fluid and filter.
