a little dissapointed

I went to the track last night to see how much the headers helped. And the only diffrence between last time and this time besides headers was i forgot to use the tcc lockup. Well i only picked up .04 but my 60' picked up .02 here are the times

r/t .720
60' 2.083
330 6.246
1/8 9.747
mph 68.34
1000 12.779
1/4 15.340
mph 89.88

second pass i used the tcc lockup and launched more (to) aggresive. i spun out past the sixty foot mark

r/t .706
60' 2.505
330 6.785
1/8 10.273
mph 70.78
1000 13.293
1/4 15.829
mph 89.13

i was hoping to see 14.999 or even a 15.000 but was nowhere close

Unless I'm reading your sig wrong you have the stock intake, heads and cam still. And you're running a 15.3?

Were the weather conditions different? Your car seems to be choking top end if you're running 15.3 with a 9.79 1/8th. Is your fuel pressure still set for stock?

I'm kinda thinkin the slow down is coming from the 700r4 not going into od a wot. but the weather was about 20 degrees hotter and the fuel pressure is still at stock.

Id do the DIY AFPR (in the tech articles, its about a 30 minute job) and up your pressure a little. The other article about hooking the volt meter up to your o2 sensor is good if you dont have a laptop and winALDL. You dont want to be in OD when you're at the track, you want to cross the line in 3rd gear.

Keep us posted!

I had to increase my fuel pressure with my mods and I am still running stock cam, heads and intake. I was running rather lean at WOT. It apparently doesn't take much to over power those 305 injectors. You could easily pick up those .2-.4 if your car was running like mine did.

the problem was the wheel spin on the second run. if you had gotten out of the hoel similar to the wya you did in the first pass with the convertor locked you prolly woudl have done it, at least very very close.
you also have to remeber that it si summer, so you don't have the best air and that you are in IL, which is at a little bit more altitude than a lot fo us.
just work on that launch a little and you shoudl have it. once it gets cooler in about a month you will be doing it easy. the key is getting out of teh hole and hitting the shifts right, so just take relax and take care of that.

later

I have already done the diy afpr, I guess it it now time to put it to work. and with that second run it was ugly it spun forever and even got a little sideways. I'm running on continetal conti 2000 cheap a$$ tires so that not much of a help. The biggest problem is that I won't be able to make it to the track until spring (the wife dosen't let me to the track much) after the ported 187 heads, 1.6 rockers, and new intake is on the car. By then if I don't hit 14's its time for me to find a new hobby.

was there a difference in the mph from your previous runs? thats what you should pay attention to when it comes to before and after power differences

I know my car has to be running real lean if yours is...I have headers, exhaust, open element, and intake. I need to get mine to the track...im afraid to tho because its gonna be embarrasing running such a slow time
