OK What in the HECK do I have to do to get rid of this thing?!? I spent 150 bucks on a JET Stage 2 chip primarily to remove the speed governor, I know I'd be lucky to get 5hp gain from it but I thought kill to birds with one stone. Well heres the story, I've had it in for a month now, approximately. I havn't been in the situations where I've 'needed' to go 110mph +, until today. I was doing 75mph cruising along on I-275 in Tampa, going north and some turbo diesel benz flies around me. I think nothing of it, hey if he wants a ticket cool... Well this ***** has the nuts to slow down a bit till he is like 6 car lenghts ahead of me and I guess hits it hard a few times and blows the diesel black smoke at me and takes off. Ohh no you *** you didn't just do that so being the revengeful teen I am, I floored it and got around him at 110mph - (note - before the jet chip, I would max out at 105mph), so I just kept it floored to see if it really had gotten rid of that speed governor... Well when the needle was like 1/2inch below 110mph it kicked in, but not as roaring bad as it did before..

Did I hit a mechanical speed limiter?? The old 700R4 just could go no faster? Maybe I got a faulty chip.. no idea. But as I said, the governor just seems to be at 115-120mph instead of 105mph before.

 

Jet and Hypertech chips usually don't even touch the speed limiter. My stock chip cut off at 110, and so does my waste of a $120 Thermomaster. Maybe your jet chip did turn off the speedlimiter if you you pulled 1/2" past the 110mph mark. How much tach did you have left? When you hit a speed limiter, you will know it. It sounds to me like you just ran outta power.

 

Why would you pay for a chip if all you wanted to do was remove the governor? I paid for a switch and some solder and now the car tops out at 135 (3.08 rear-end)
