Will a 400 SBC work with TBI?
I found a pretty darn good deal on a 400, all the machine work done, just needs assembled.
I was wondering what the hardware list would look like to make it work.........Holley TBI with large injectors, etc?
I am intending my truck to be a daily driver, but I want good power for towing when the need arises, hence the interest in large cubes. I've had awesome luck with 400 small blocks in the past, but they were all carbureted. I am not committed to going with the big engine, as I really like the idea of the LT1 cammed Vortec 350 long block, but I know the extra stroke of the 400 would help me when I do latch on to a boat or trailer and hit the roads.

I think if you can get a 454 tbi with 80lb injectors, or if your going cam this engine up, get the 90 lb injectors. A easy rule to follow is 1 pound of injector supports 2 hp. So 80lb * 2 injectors * 2 hp = 320 hp support. The holley is ok too but make sure it has the 85lbinjectors. Myself I just got a 454 tbi with 90lbs injectors, which I'm goin to raise the fuel pressure up alittle to make them 100lb, then they will support 400hp. Right now with my 65 lb injectors my motor starts ruunning low on fule at 3000rpm -3500 rpm.
