air cleaner

Hey guys.Today I did a little experimenting with the open element and a old air cleaner from a 70s full size car that I had.I put the cleaner on but it fit better with the opening in front of the engine. It basically fits between the idler and the top radiator hose. The cleaner has a bigger opening than the orginal that came with the car and it rev alot better than the open element and the car had better throttle responce on the highway. The cleaner didn't intefer with the hood at all.It is in the high 60s today, but what about in the summer? The opening is long enough and not touching the hood in the front part, but it is pointing the fan. Will it be a good setup for warmer weather or should put the open element back on?

More air more power. Cooler air denser more oxygen more power. Just experiment and see which is best for your climate.

more air will work the same regardless of temp. if your car picked up from one to the otehr today it would pick up the same in the summer heat. only thing you may wanna try is putting a short piece of dryer hose or something on to grab air more from teh fender area. teh air coming off the radiator is gonna be pretty warm since it has already picked up temp from crossign the radiator.
