l98 cam...would this work
Any idea as to if an l98 cam would work in my L03...I assume it would...any issues I should be awair of???
Some secret mod... if you and James end up camming your cars AND I still eek out better time I won't let you guys live it down hehe. James has the aluminum driveshaft, and posi and 17 inch rims/275 mm tread advantage that is in reality 2 tenths over me Dave. I actually have a higher trap speed than him, go figure that...
I still believe I can squeeze a good amount more out of this engine, and you know that I am good for it...
Yes that cam will work, get a new timing chain to go with it, also check for coil bind on springs just in case.
On another note, I say I can match your gain in cam without changing my cam... track gods say this engine is good for high 14's without resorting to cam, who am I to argue hehe....

Crap!!!! I should have known you were on the TBI board too!!!! Oh that cam is just going to be the tip of the iceberg for next year......next year your a$$ is mine
remeber, blackbird's challenge was for 13's on swirl port heads.
deadtrend and blackbird are both stepping up to be first to teh 13's on stock heads and disprove a lot fo the negative talk about swirl ports. and both are gonna do it wiht untouched stock castings too.
teh L98 cam is a solid mod for an LO3. and 17inch rims are no advantage when drag racing. they are heavier and have less side wall to allow the tire to flex and grip teh road under launch conditions.

Actually, didn't Joe (Camaroracer1992) already achieve that with stock heads and cam with nitrous? or are we not including nitrous here?
91bird305, it is an n/a contest now. maybe once a few guys hti 13's one of them will be willing to try a 125 shot liek joe ran. joe knocked off 1.8secs with a 125 shot(15.0 to 13.18), imagien what it coudl do in a car that is already runnign in the 13's
you'll have to go back to blackbird's original challenge to se what teh rules are about the heads. i think you are allowed to mess with them if you want. not sure though.

If I can do this without traction mods, what do you guys think I can pull with traction mods? With headers? With a hotter cam?
I'm gunning for 13's guys and have the list being checked off one by one till its complete...
each piece adds a little... all little pieces make a lot...

I believe that some L98 cams have more duration than the LT1 cam(tech data on this site). It'll work fine and I should have my L98 cam(out of my 89 305 GTA) in by thanksgiving.
