350 block, make a difference or no?

hey all, I'm looking for a new engine to replace the 305 and one that will give me more horsepower. i went around to a couple different places and they all said my best bet was to buy a 350 block and put all of the stuff that is on my car now, onto that block.
will that make a big difference in power? using the same heads, LT1 cam, same manifolds and all of that? It doesn't seem like I would get more than 30 hp from it.
if i'm wrong can someone please correct me! I have about $3000 canadian for a new engine.
I have a 305tbi with LT1 cam, 3inch exhaust, and gears

if you can find a late model 350 block that is set up for a roller cam for cheapo it is a good idea to grab it. from the larger displacement adn bore size you can go with larger cam seslections and gain more power. plus the additional cubes are always good for a few ponies.
if your motor is tired adn the 350 is fresh tehn you would prolly see at least 30 more horses one everythign was tuned in. the 350 can also take better advantage of many of teh free mods since it is a larger air pump.
i am not sure what 3000 canadian is equal to in us dollars, around 2000 i guess? that is enough money to find a rebuilt 350 from a machine shop, get teh heads done up a bit with a vlave job and some mild porting and then swapp all your stuff over to it. that woudl be a nice gain, certainly soemthign you woudl feel. teh only things you woudl want to do is get some 350 injectors and find soemone to burn you a cutsom chip.

Tim -

Is the 355 in my garage out of an '86 suburban set up for a roller cam? Is it worth using???

Also, being that the motor is free to me, how much would it take to make some good power?

NJ Speeder, I know what you are saying about bigger cams but I can't mod the 350 that I get. I modded out the 305 and now it is making a strange ticking noise when I rev it and it seems like it is dying a slow death. We had a mechanic put it up and look at the exhaust but they found no leaks. So my parents want me to find a decent 350 with power that is stock so I wont have any problems.
