I need some help with some gears
I have a 1988 camaro sport coupe with the TBI 305. It is an auto so i have the stock 2:73's in it which suck. I want to go with at least 3:42's and possibly 3:73's but thats not my issue. I would rather have any gears with posi. My question is what can i do to make it posi.....for a resonable amount instead of spending 1000 to make it a brand new posi set up. I have heard some things about SLP making posi differentials but i dont really know all that much about them. If anyone could help me find some cheap posi thats gonna be basically a factory replacement in which i can use the stock axles i would greatly appreciate it.

Your '88 has 26 spline axles which will not work with the "take off" OEM posi from SLP. I believe your best bet here would be to find the rear out of a '90-'92 V6. It should have 3.42s and 28 spline axles. One from the bones yard should only be between $100-150. Then order the posi unit from SLP ($100) and you've got yourself a nice lower gear ratio and will be able to put down 2 strips of rubber instead of one
**Hint: If you are lucky you can find one of the austrailian 10 bolts (RPO G92???). Not sure what years, but that will already have 3.55s and posi.**

yeah I got my 3.42 rear out of a v-6. it came out of a 89 rs. It does leave two patches of rubber instead of one, but its an open rear. I got the whole car for some rims and an xbox. I've been pulling all types of stuff off of that car. I did my brakes last month will the parts off of the v6 (front). Main idea being it was cheap.
