Timing and vacuum fitting

Help!!!!!!!!
I have a 92 RS that had a 305 TBI in it. The motor was bad so I replaced it with a pu truck 93 350 TBI using all the same sensors and parts from the 305, everything looks good, now I have two problems, First one: On the intake manifold there is a vacuum fitting on the 7 and 8 intake runner it is a hex fitting with a hose connection on it. What does it connect to ? I have blocked it off right now but I would like to know were it connects. Number 2: I tried to set the timing , starting at about 8 deg. Before top dead center and had no success, I now have it running and with the timing light it looks like it is now at 24 degs. Can anyone tell me what the timing is for a 93 truck with a TBI and what connects to that vacuum fitting?

If it's anything like the fitting on my Edelbrock Performer RPM, I think that's where your cruise control hooks up. As far as the timing, I think we have the same problem. It sounds like the outer ring of the harmonic balancer (the part with the timing marker) has slipped. I'm starting to hate the OEM design of the balancer. Should've had some sort of retainer mechanism on it.

theouter ring has to be able to move realative to the inner part of the balancer to dampen out the harmonics in the crank. Unfortunatly, slippage comes witht he territory. Just time it to where it runs best. Most people dont use the stock timing settign anyway.
