Crate motors what will work with TBI?
Crate motors what will work with TBI?
Alright I am starting to look at crate motors and adapting the TBI to fit. What I want to know is what kind of RPM will a TBI pull to and make power with if A. I have the holley TBI unit and a performer RPM intake. B. ultimate TBI mods and edelbrock performer intake. Will this supply enough fuel for a ZZ4 350 or a mild 383 say 400 Horse? Also I have heard of problems with adapting a carb manifold for TBI that things like AC compressor and TV cable bracket will need custom pieces to mount up is this true? What about the edelbrock TBI manifold same thing?

Nah, the carb manfold is pretty easy. The only thing I never figured out was the curise control.
With the holley and the performer rpm you could see 6k with the right cam, thats what I want to shift at honestly. Really 6200 would be optimal, but I dont anticipate that happening even when I get my 670. The stock tbi will only flow for about 250 horses, IMO, in stock 1 11/16" form. You could see 320+ with the 2" holley/454ss one mated with the right injectors. JPrevost is running the 330 hp GM Crate with the holley and a performer manifold and he's trapping at 102, which would indicate somewhere around 320 hp I'd imagine.

I have the Edelbrock Performer TBI Intake and the cruise works fine.
There are better intakes for high hp applications, if you don't need to pass smog.
I'm making 317hp at 4500 with a ported throttle body from Turbo City.

with my edelbrock TBI intake my cruise wouldnt work. it just fell off the linkage so i took it out.
if your gonna get a carb intake and dont have a hood clearance issue get the holley street dominator intake....i have a 670cfm holley SA ontop of that and cant even fit a 1inch element in there...damn i need a hood.
BTW www.paceparts.com has the police car version of the lo5 parts #12513151 that would work great with TBI because its a TBI motor.
