Bye Bye TBI

Hello all. I would like to start out saying that this board is one of the most useful places to find good reliable information on our cars. I have used it to help do a 350 TBI swap in my RS, and get it to run right. But through all this, I have now come to a point where I'm going to have to spend a huge amount of money to tune my TBI, and well I'd have to probably go 4 barrel TBI...and that just costs too much. So I am getting ready to discard my reliable TBI system, and go to a primative carb. The reason I posted this is to let people know that you can make power with a stock TBI. I ran a 15.1 @ 94 (no traction) at the track this friday. But a local shop had an L03 with a carb on it...and it ran 14.7 @ 93. So a stock 305 (except for open air cleaner and gears) kept up with my 350 with full exhaust and modified TBI. I know I probably should buy a 670 Holley, but then that'll become a restriciton after my heads and cam. My advice is that you stay with TBI as long as you can. It is one of the easiest fuel injection systems to modify for the price. But if you're seeking over 400hp...it'll be very expensive to achieve with TBI. Alright, sorry for the long post. Goodbye all!

Matt

good luck with the new combo.
