Vortec Edelbrock Perf. RPM Install

Hey all,
In two weeks I am going to be installing my vortec heads with my LT1 cam and Edelbrock Vortec Performer RPM intake.

My question is to all that have done this intake with a tbi adapter plate, hood clearance issues? The intake instructions said something about needing a new throttle bracket, will the stock bracket work?

Anyone who has done this or seen it done if you could provide some advice that would really helpfull.

The Vortec'th come'th alive!!:hail: :hail: :hail:

Well you wont be able to have a wingnut on top of your air cleaner if you use a 14x3 element like I do, lol. It just rubs the bottom of the hood when you close it. I fabbed my bracket up different than Z28boy did (btw, he has a great sight), if I can snap a picture of that today I will.

Did it happen to list the part number for the bracket they recommend?

No they didn't say. I guess I'll just try to tweek the stock bracket after I take a look at how it lines up. With the adapter plate on there can you use the drop base aircleaner with that silencer ring in there without it hitting the throttle cables?

I just used Edelbrock's vortec bracket. Part number 8032. I think mine was about $25 from Jegs.

I made all my stuff fit:
RPM intake vortec heads
New motor mounts
1" adpator/spacer plate
Holley 670 cfm TB
14x3 drop base air cleaner.
All it took was cutting out some of the underbracing and banging enough clearance in the air cleaner base for the IAC and TPS wiring plugs. It never rubs. The modified base (hammer time) does require a dremel cutting tool on the air cleaner to make it fit flush but that took all of 2 minutes no more or you're taking too long.

Well I just got my tbi adapter in the mail last night. Pretty nice piece. When I lined it up with my manifold the throttle circles of the plate don't line up perfect with the plenum of the manifold. I think I'm going to dremmel the edges of the manifold to match the circles at the top and then taper them back in.

Anybody else do that too?

What underbracing are you talking about? Underbracing on the Air Cleaner base plate?

Just curious, I am thinking about upgrading mine to the Vortec heads as well with the ZZ3 cam. I have been eyeballing the kits from Scoggins Dickey.

The hood is made up of 2 pieces of metal above the air cleaner. The top is the shell and the bottom is the underbracing. More like the bones and skin. Cut out a hole for the air cleaner so the hood isn't as thick in that area and you shouldn't have a problem fitting an open element in.
