power addition, my project im starting the work on
ok guys and gals, im pulling the engine, and here is whats going on to it... maybe someone can tell me about how much power it will have afterwards, i dont think its gonna be a big differece, but still... an idea would be nice.
new heads, off of a 305 tpi, shaved 30 1/1000ths
open element air cleaner,
stage one chip
3.23 posi rear end
boshe platinum 2 plugs
boshe wireset
thats all performance, here is my other crap going on the car
fender, and gfx, (both smashed)
chrome oil pan, tranny pan, valve covers,
last but not least, im gonna do my engine scheme black, chrome, and blue... i think it will look really good in a black car... anyone have any sudjestions to future mods???

While the intake is off and the front accessories are off you minus well put in an LT1 cam for $35, then have the heads fitted with a decent ~$50 valve spring. That'll give you a nice shot in the arm power-wise.

Don't want to steer you away from your scheme, but i have heard that the chrome oilpan is not very good for your engine, as the chroming process allows heat to build up. Sounds great other than that, and i agree about the lt1 cam, while you're at it get a new timing chain too. Just my .02

I'd recommend a new intake manifold as well, as it will complement the heads and possible cam.

This is 777ZLLL friend,
He went ahead and bought the LT1 cam. He wants to know what would the estimated horsepower increase be with:
LT1 Cam
TPI Heads shaved 30 1000ths
Rapid Fire plugs
Open element air cleaner
Stage 1 performance chip
This is all on the 305 TBI

Why are you shaving the heads? This will raise the cr up to the point where you'll have to run premo gas, you might still have problems even then. Just have them milled enough to get them flat. Just my .02 worth.

Oh yah, you could be in the 190 to 200hp range with a good exsaust system. Don't forget the free ultimate tbi mods either.

get a custom chip burned instead of the stage 1 crap. I think they say the lt1 cam is good for 20-30hp. TPI heads are good for about 10hp if I remember correctly. Bumping your compression will help make more power, be careful though. Stock compression is 9.3:1, bumping too much higher may be risky.
