Yet Yet another chip burning question
This hometown confirmed I was running rich as did a dyno run.
The fella helped out and looked at my files from WinALDL and he says I was running rich practically all over the table.
Will a tune-up on the chip produce tire frying performance or more like less at the pump.
It barks 1st and 2nd gears pretty damn good.

It's hard to say. Running rich will always be safter than lean. If you don't touch the timing and it's not knocking then I'd say it will only help at the pump. If you lower your fuel trim and make smart timing changes then you can pickup noticable performance or at the least just a smoother operating engine. For some that would be a bad thing. They want their stocked cam/headed engines to lop at idle so they dump a lot of fuel in for some mis-fire. It's not JUST fuel. Tuning in general is more of an art form. Running lean and you can kill yourself trying to accelerate through a turn (lean, backfire, engine comes alive and barks the tires loose so you swing). So for me to say eprom tuning will make you faster could be mis-leading. It's more of the big picture, not just 100% throttle but also 60%, 20%, etc.

Thanks for the help hometown.
I'll put it away in my files.

p.s. One thing that confuses me is that the plugs really don't show a rich condition. The ring shows a little gunk and the ceramic part shows about 1/4 tan and the rest is still white. Shouldn't it be darker? Or am I reading the plugs wrong???
