open element question

ok while taking a look into the old archives of this site i found some things that i had a question on.. for instance someone said that with an open element you should remove the plastic in front of the radiator support around the hood latch and cut off the plastic protrusions leading to the grill under that and cover them..
I dont really understand all of this.. does anyone have a pic explaining this? that would be great.. I have a cowl induction hood but i'm afraid if i go open element i will get alot of trapped engine heat instead of cool flowing air
Thanx for the help

Don't remove anything from the front. If you want, just rip out ALL of that extra plastic junk that sits in front of the radiator. I did it because I had to install a tranny cooler and was also removing my a/c. As for the cowl, just seal off the air cleaner to the cowl. This is my solution and seems to be the best for anybody with a cowl. Yes it'll take some time measuring and making sure it's sealed good but it's worth it. Just remember to install water drain holes on the lowest area's else the car will drink rain water .
