Does a Holley Open Element Fit?

Ok I am thinking about going downtown and picking up the Holley 14"X3" Open Element. The guys says its for the Holley carb. Well that makes sense. Does anyone else have this on thier TBI? What about the tbi spacers? Keep em or leave em? I will get the 14" K&N filter later since all I have is the 12" now. Maybe I can find a cheap aftermarket one to replace the stock one it was packaged with until then. This is the last open element question for a long time.

On my 88 tbi camaro i have an edelbrock 14x3 open element filter. It fit perfectly. The only thing is you must drill a 3/8 pipe thread hole in the base to mount your sensor back into it. As far as the tbi spacer there is almost no hope of that fitting under your hood because of clearance problems. The top of my air cleaner now leaves an imprint in the insulation under the hood without the spacer. But i Know a few people who have used them on there pickups and are really happy with the results. If it fits it would probably be worth it.

if you use a non-drop base open element.. then the spacer ring can come off the throttle body.

If you use a drop-base open element .. then the spacer ring will need to stay in. Why? because if you dont, the air cleaner will rest on your cables and distributor and be crooked.

Id make every attept possible of getting that spacer off (IE. getting the non-drop base) because its kinda little dumb GM idea. It blocks a lot of air getting into the motor.
