TBI-PROM burning question.
This is long, but tried to include all required info.
I see RBob has posted the BIN for a caprice “cop car” (350 automatic) on the TBI board. Can this BIN be burned directly onto the stock (1228746) PROM for my 91 RS camaro (350/manual) without grievous consequences? Would I have to disable the shift function (auto trans)?
Or, would I have to look at the values in the caprice BINs various tables (fuel, spark, etc) and input the improved values into my stock BIN by hand (using TunerCat) and then burn onto a PROM?
More broadly, I’m looking for some input on how an ECM would respond to a PROM’s instruction to do something that cannot be done. For example, shift something (automatic trans) that isn’t there (using a manual). Or other similar circumstances. Am still trying to understand this.
After reading several of JPrevost’s zealous posts concerning the buy v. do-it-yourself chip burning choice, I went with the DIY idea because it is right for me (thanks, JP).
So……
I have the laptop, eraser and programmer. I have successfully recorded the BIN off my stock chip, and made a duplicate chip. I have the evaluation version of Tunercat and used the “evaluation” definition file (and the corresponding 7747 BIN from DIY-EFI) to try it out. I have yet to buy the TunerCat system outright and that leads me to my next question.
I see that the 8746 and 7747 PROMS are similar.
Is the 7747 “evaluation” definition file that comes with Tuner Cat able to decipher an 8746 chip?
I’m still learning, so if I bungled my terms usage, or am not understanding properly, please let me know. Thanks to JP, Grumpy and Traxion for excellent primer material. I've read it many times.
As always, all input is appreciated.

-too much to quote-
Using an auto chip in a manual car won't wreak anything. Your shift light will come on whenever the ECM locks up (or tries) the TCC. The auto trans is not electronically shifted.
Can't use the '747 definition file with the '746.
Give it a whirl and tune from there.
RBob.

I'm working on comparing all the bin files that were offered in an f-body with TBI. There are at least 9 and there are even some from the caprice. When I'm done I'll e-mail you an ANLU made for a stick. This way when the TCC comes on timing doesn't retard.

I don't have the stuff to burn chips yet but that should come with my tax returns.
I appreciate the help the informative posts on this board have given me
