Coolant Temp Sensor not coming out
Ok I bought a CTS cause mine stopped working and motor overheated so I ran a wire to a switch inside my car and have been using that. Is there any other place to put the sensor?? Or any ancient chinese secrets to getting the old one out cause I tried.
use a small torch to heat the bottom of teh sensor a bit. don't make it glow, jsut make it a bit too hot to touch. that shoudl help to break up teh corrsion or bonding or whatever is holding it in.

is that your fan switch your talking about? That wont cause overheating but will just cause the temp gauge to stop working and it will set the ses light. The cts is in the intake and id probably avoid using a torch on the aluminum. It wont glow but will melt easily instead. If its the fan switch in the cyl. head, then slightly heating the surrounding area or running the engine for a bit to warm things up and then putting ice on the sensor might help free it up.
edit: Didnt see that its a 91. Do they still use the switches in that year or is the fan controlled by the ecm?
