smog pump
i was readin the tech article on removing the smog pump on serpentene f bodys and i was wondering exactly what does the smog pump do is it the source of the egr and will removing it mess with anything such as the egr that might harm my engine i dont have to pass emissions in my state i already have my cat removed but i had the air tube welded into the pipe that i put in place of my cat any info will help thanks
ill just cut and paste this from the thread 4 posts up that i wrote.
the AIR pump becomes a Idler pulley 30 seconds after a cold start. It pumps air into the cat so it warms up quicker to make the EPA sissies happy. After the cat is warmed up, selenoid switches and the pump becomes usless for the rest of the day ..... WAY TO GO GM!
also, if you take the EGR off without disabling it in the computer. Then the computer will hate you and the car will run like crap. Leave it in for awhile.
