Velocity stack questions.
Has anyone used a velocity stack or something like this with their TBI unit? Just wondering how it would work. You have to do some popriveting with this one and I don't really trust that.
there is a problem with stacks on a tbis compared to a carb. they work great on a carb because they can accept air freely moving straight down. it actually eliminates a ton of turbulance at higher rpms when velocities rise. tbi on the other hand, most of the air is blocked by the injector pod and you will likely end up with even less fuel flow that you had with teh stock air box. too bad though, they look cool as hell.

1. Yes they look cool but you won't see much of a performance gain on a street engine, especially a mild one. The grinder-based Ultimate TBI mods are aimed at the same purpose (increasing airflow by reducing friction).
2. If the flow cross section area near the injectors is still more than the throttle venturi when the throttle is full-open, then the stack will not impede the airflow.
3. A good cold-air system fed to the TBI will give you more power than any velocity stack... but won't look as nice. The Ultimate TBI mods (using the grinder) plus a good cold air intake & air cleaner would be even better. HINT.
4. Will the velocity stack fit under a stock hood? That may make all other arguments for, or against, moot.
FWIW
