get a new engine! although cross fire is a rarity.. they have known to be a big PITA. I would look into better gears and exaust.. if you have the money go with a new cam as well those are basic thing people do to get a few more horsepower. make sure you dont put too much into the engine because power is nothing if you cant get it to the ground

i have been restoring an 83 crossfire camaro z28 for the past seven months. After pulling the gas tank replacing it with a new one. Changing to a new fuel pump. Replacing fuel lines. Fixing and changing locked up injectors. The car finaly fired up. It had been sitting for almost six years. It sounds great and its not all that whimpy. I still have tons of things to replace and tune. I wish i could find out what exactly had been done to the car before i got it. Because i almost have to try NOT to spin the tires. I also have a 96 mustang that has around 230hp. And i feel like the camaro has way more ***** than the ford. It might not have the Hp as my ford but it sure is fun to drive. Maybe it just needs a tune up. And get some headers. if your not taking it to the drag strip how much Hp do you need? If it looks good, sounds great, and can beat most of the imports, isnt that good enough for a daily driver?

Honestly, the Crossfire is one of the worst engines GM has ever produced...it's in the same category as the Iron Duke.

i heard that the crossfire got a bad name due to being the first fuel injected car that gm made. and 99% of the people that had one ripped it out and put on a carb. only because computers weren't a thing everyone was familliar with back then. So instead of tring to learn about how a computer made a cars injection system work they ripped them out and put on carbs. It was an easy way not to learn about technology. And since they only made them for a few years, they are very rare now to find a car that has been kept nearly stock. I dont have tons of knowledge on the crossfire setup. But at least i own one, and have driven one. So dont take peoples advice that tell you to rip it out unless they have first hand experience with the crossfire. A good place to go is the crossfire vault. Its a website dedicated to people that have and still run the crossfire setup. And they can give you advice on what works and dosent, from their own experiences.
