98' vortec 350 help
Hey, i moved this from the motor swap section because I've decided I don't have the money to swap to the vortec (SFI) injection and I also can't have the car down long (a weekend). SOooooooo!
I have purchased a 98' Vortec 350 engine. I am going to go with teh Tbi setup for now because 1) cheap and easy, and 2) quick. (I have a 92' RS L03)
I have a few questions...
1) I have read you have to get a different chip. Would you recommend a chip out of a truck tbi or the police car chip or is there even a difference between the two?
2) I really like the air gap manifold and is there clearance issues w/ this and the TBI/Adaptor??? (I have an ASCD SS hood)
3) I'm really undecided on the cam? I have been thinking the LT1 cam would work well but the Hot Cam sounds good too. Whats the maxium duration/overlap that the TBI can handle?
4) I also have to upgrade to a bigger TBI. I have heard the truck TBI or the holley tbi are the easiest ways to go... Anybody with any experience with either on a 350 and which performed better if any difference at all.
Thanks,
Justin

Chrome, the air gap should be okay if you have an extra 1" to 2''s. As far as the hot cam goes, even with 1.5 rockers(.492) you would be over the maximun lift of the stock heads(.475-.480). If you used a lower lift cam you could possibly use your stock tb with 350 truck injectors(65lb),ultiment tbi mods, and a cop car chip or custom chip(made by you). If you left the stock cam in and only added the rpm intake and headers then the cop car chip should run pretty well.

Dont forget to get a 350 ESC Moudle and a 350 knock sensor, 350 chip, and 350 injector's this is not a option you have to have all of these for the car to run right
