Redesigned the y-pipe and cutout ver. 2
Redesigned the y-pipe and cutout ver. 2
So after a bit of research over the past few months I found a design of y-pipe that would work great for my idea.
Funny how it always comes down to SLP... stainless steel tubing and mandrel bends...
So I had a 2 1/2 " mandrel bend y-pipe made that followed SLP's design with a few exceptions, the fitting at the y is a 3inch pipe to the cat, the section where the y is has a cutout
The tone has changed dramatically on my car, the flowmaster sounded alright with the 2 1/2 catback with dynomax cat (which is dying by the way as discovered yesteday, damn winter and long enrichment driving). It had a nice mellow tune, actually comparable to those people running a 3 inch catback and stock converter. It's all in the cat I say for sound.
Now I say its in the cat AND y-pipe... the way it sounds now is a lot better, she'll pull into the 4000 range and keep climbing to 4500 with no issue in 3rd... odds are I can pull a 95 mph trap speed now with the way it pulls in 1st 2nd and 3rd...
All on stock heads, intake, tbi, cam and headers...
I'll see if I can run it once on track before I'm forced to buy a new cat and check the improvment... I could run consistent 15.4 times with consistent 91 mph trap speeds, broke 92 mph a few times... all with 2.3-2.4 60 ft times
On tap, headers, posi, sfc's and hiflow cat...
