Vats is computer controlled, its just a flag in the prom that can be enabled or disabled. It simply won't let the injectors fire. If your car still won't start it must be because you pulled a power wire that was controlled by the vats (maybe dis power), and with no ecm the vats must default to "on".

so do you suggest i hook the vats wire up to some power wire to by pass it or complete the circuit? and for you guys that rewired your fuel pump did you just use a switch or is there some where you can splice into.

I'm really don't know much about vats, as I don't have it, I believe there are relays (or the vats modual itself) that give power to the fuel pump relays, and the starter, I would just think that you need to take your wires right from the ignition. ie: run wire to fuel pump, and starting wire to starter. But there has to be an eaiser way. Try some searches on disabling vats.

I re-wired my fuel pump. Found the power wire for it and ran it to the fuse panel to a location that is hot when the key is on.

I have heard that VATS can be disabled in the computer also, but by your case the actual system is not controlled by the computer. Does this make any sence, probably not I have been awake for eighteen hours now...

Yeah, Vats can be disabled (controlled) by the chip, but with ecm gone vats must default to always being on.

I just had my 91 RS's pump apart today, black appears to be a ground, tan goes to pump, pink goes to the sender for the fuel gauge.
