Engine making spirting/hissing sounds?
Hello! I have a 91 RS 305 camaro. My car recently started overheating and I noticed that it was low on radiator fluid. After refilling the cooling system and driving my car around, I noticed a hissing sound from under the hood. Upon further examination, I can see antifreeze bubbling out of the block about 4 inches left and 2 inches down from the thermostat.
Sound like a gasket or seal is broken? How much does it cost to repair this yourself? Is it a difficult job? How much would it cost to take the car to a mechanic?
Thanks,
Brian

Is the leak coming from the head gasket or the intake manifold gasket? From your directions it is somewhat hard to tell which. It sounds like a blown gasket. You can't keep letting your car overheat. Cost will be dependant on the shop you take it to and what is actually wrong with it.

If it is in the intake manifold the cost to repair will be cheaper. Should take like 1 to 2 hours shop time which would be like 120 bucks plus gasket cost another 20 bucks. Now if it is in the head gasket that is a whole new ball game and you will be replacing those gaskets along with the intake ones as well. That takes hours and would cost an arm and a leg for a shop to do. You would be better off buying aftermarket heads and doing it yourself. Would cost probably about the same. If that is still not an option than you need to ask around and just get some quotes.
