are u using a custom chip, if not, im sure that is causing you to run lean. Might want to try increasing the fuel pressure and messing around with the timing.

Have you looked at the spark plugs to see if its actually running lean or that the 02 sensor is whacked tell the computer that its running lean when its not and the computer is dumping fuel to compensate causing your 5-10mpg. No amount of chip work will cure inaccurate sensors. The winaldl will help spot some flakey readings from them though. A vacuum leak could also aid in your problem. Can't rule out the CTS (coolant temp sensor) either. But I would say that its one of those problems rather than the chip. Yes you could gain some power from a tuned chip but it should run a hell of a lot better than that with your chip.
