How much is this worth?
I don't know that this is the best forum, but I expect that the car I'm looking at tomorrow is a TBI.. so anyway,
89 Camaro RS. 305 V8 and auto trans.
I got a few details over the phone, and the guy said that the front end was hit, but the damage was all cosmetic. He damaged the front end, the hood and the lt/rt fenders - so he's taken them off the car. Otherwise the car is complete and runs/drives OK.
Even if the car is crap, it supposedly has a good auto trans (which I need - 91 auto is slipping BAD) so it's at least worth a couple hundred to me just for the trans. If I dont use the trans in the '91, I can take the engine/trans combo along with the wiring harness, etc and put it in my complete (but disassembled) '73 camaro...
Then part out the rest of it...
Anyway, what do you think a running/driving '89 RS is worth with the known problems I've described? Anything else I can easily check to make sure there aren't any untold issues lurking (other than sagging doors and rust on the lower portion of rear qtrs?
Thanks for any info!
Rich

how many miles are on the car....i purchased my 88 tbi with about 97,000 miles on it about 2 years ago for $1500...it was in perfect condition with no rust at all...surpising for being a new england car all of its life....my guess for the worth of that car is about $800. not knowing the millage....it shouldnt be more than that...but since i have gotten the car i have put over $6000 into the car.....but worth every penny because now its much faster.......hope this helped.....
i bought my 89 RS 305 TBI for $3300 with 120k on it as the second owner, but everything on the car was perfect except for fading paint on the mirrors and tops of the doors (the 70 yr old lady wanted to sell it cause she got a vette). but as scabbed said, it depends on how many miles are on the car. the way you described i wouldnt pay much more than $800-$1000 depending on if the damage was actually just cosmetic and how many miles are on the car. but as i was always taught, never buy a car until you drive it (unless of course it isnt running)

Thanks for the tips guys. I'd imagine the care more than likely has 100k+ on it at least. The guys said it was 'green with red interior'
What was GM thinking???
He's asking $900... so maybe I'll wind up with it around $700-$800. Based on what has been said here it sounds like a good deal.
We shall see tomorrow!
