Dear Fellow Camaro &F-Body fans,


Dude, this lady tried to sell me her husbands IROC (I think she had his permission and what not?). BUT- it had a 350 TBI (Throttle Body Injected) motor....not the Tune Port injection. I ended up passing up the deal, and later bought my current Camaro (A 1984 Z28).


But my question is this: IROC Camaros did not come with TBI, did they?

I believe that some of the earlier IROC's had carburetors....and then some of the earlier ones had TPI...and I am guessing that they switched to TPI only in 1986. Am I correct, dude?


I surmised that either that car (The 89 I passed on) originally came with that engine, but with TPI...or that the engine and the TBI was not original, dude. Thanks for your input. "Malfunction- NEED INPUT!" He he he.

You are wrong. Some IROCs did come with TBI. But there was no stock TBI 350 engines in a f-body.

 

Oh ok. I did not know that some of them had the 305 TBI. But this one had a 350 and TBI. I reckon that they may have gotten the 350 and the TBI from a truck, and put it in the Camaro.

 

i would bet it was a 305 TBI IROC (they did make them, and IIRC they came with 15" wheels) and she just didn't know her small blocks and said it was a 350

 

I think the LO3 (305 TBI) was the base engine in the IROC's from 1988-1989.

It could also be that the dealer that sold the car could have put the apperance package on it over a base z28

casue i know that the formula used the lo3 as a base engine and the base engine for the RS was 2.8/3.1 aslo applied tot he sport coupe in 88 before the RS in 89

 

Base engine 1988-1989 was the 305 TBI. TPI became standard in 1990.
