In order to do away with the EGR you are going to have to turn it off in the ECM or else it will throw fits and your car will not run correctly. As for the heater hoses you can run one to the manifold and one to the water pump just like an old hot rod setup and you wont have any problems.

thats pretty much like it is now right , other than the hoses going to some black plastic connector deal near the front of the engine, pass side.

That plastic thing is the heater control valve. Basically its the thing that regulates whether or not hot coolant flows through the heater core to give you heat, or not.

I did away with it and put in one of these. If your car isn't putting out good heat then it's probably the thermostat. Just plug the bypass hole in the radiator and drill a small hole (like 1/16") in a 180* thermostat. That'll keep some coolant circulating all the time to help eliminate hot spots on warmup.

Where would I find one of those valves? I don't like having the "cars venting system" pushing air past my always on heatercore..... I have a ball valve I was going to install but it is too heavy and I like the looks of the one you posted.

Jon,

You can get a manual heater valve at just about any parts store. They usually have to order them though It's made by Stant and the p/n at Advance is 20500 for the 5/8" valve and 20501 for the 3/4" valve. If they can't find it (stupid parts store people) then have them look up a 1971 Camaro V8 4bbl and it should be one of the options on the screen. It does take about 15 turns to completely open or close the valve (much more than a ball valve), but I only do that twice a year so it's not really a problem.

Later,
Harry

I dont' really have any pics of the valve itself, but you can see how uncluttered the framerail is without all that crap over there. Next thing to go is the AC. It's slinging oil all over my hood right now and I just don't have any use for the extra 50lbs it adds
