Results of LT1 cam, 416's, and intake swap...LONG

Well I finally got it all straightened out and started it up. It runs rich as hell. If it idles for a few minutes it will flood out and I have to churn it over for about 30 seconds at WOT for it to start again. The idle seems to fluctuate between 500 and 1100 RPMs. Lots of black smoke when I rev it. I am throwing code 15 and 42 as of now. I'dont know why the CTS is acting up cuz it worked fine before. Also the trans shifts way too soon. I adjusted it as tight a I could, but ran out of adjustment. Here is what I did.

-LT1 cam
-LG4 intake w/ adapter plate
-unported 416's shaved .030 w/ new E-brock springs
-new timing chain
-new O2 sensor
-removed EGR
-removed AIR system and pump

I think thats it. Any ideas on leaning it out?

For now you could try turning the fuel pressure way down, but the real fix would have to be chip tuning.

sounds like you screwed something up, like the dist. is in the wrong position or you didnt reconnect the cts. the reason its rich as hell is because of low vacuum caused by any of those conditions (could be a vacuum leak too, or did you forget to reconnect the map sensor?) lots of things could be at fault it should run somewhat decently though if its not you have a mechanical problem

Well it runs alot better now. I replaced the CTS and set the timing at 10 degrees and seems to run alot better. I have'nt messed w/ the fuel pressure yet but prob. will in the future. It does feel a little faster on the top end but I wont really know until I hit the dragstrip.

You need to cut a lot of fuel near idle and add timing in low rpms. That definately turned around my throttle response and power down low after my L98 cam swap.

Custom chip will lean it out, or maybe a Vafpr that will cut the fuel pressure way down at idle.

Yes, using Moates memory adapter and Pocket Programmer 2 and GMECM edit.

Hey man, if you want a bin for the LT1 cam I can send you mine, its for vortec heads and a performer rpm manifold but its better than nothing. EGR is disabled, the spark tables are a little advanced, and the fuel table is toned down at idle quite a bit. Its not nothing other than spark done to it for performance, but it made my car a hell of a lot more driveable.

PM me
