Ok........i got a 91 RS w/ a 305 TBI ( LO3 )....its puts out 170HP stock.....ok my mom has a van........4.3 Vortec V6.......puts out 190HP.......a v6 is crankin more HP stock......than my v8......wtf? why is this? Kinda makes me ANGRY!!!!

it gives more reason on gettin parts!! But the 91 made 255 foot pounds of torque i belive the v-6 makes somewhere around 210(not sure)

Welcome. And yes, that's it - that's all you get with an LO3. They are restricted really bad, on intake and exhaust. They have the worst heads ever made. They have a very small cam. Most of those with LO3's do exhaust (headers, hi-flo cat, hi-flo muffler), open air element or dual snorkel air, better intake manifolds, LT1 cam, and better heads. I have a 90 RS LO3 - She's apart in pieces now. I'm doing Ultimate TBI mods, headers, cat, muffler, dual snorkel air, LT1 cam, Weiand intake manifold. I got a set of casting #416 heads, I ported & polished them, added bigger 1.94 intake valves, new springs, and 1.6:1 roller-tip rockers. I also added posi rear with better gears ($125 used). I'm hoping to be closer to 250hp when done.
The freebies to start with - get more air in - open element or dual snorkel - my dual snorkel added what felt like 15 HP. Ultimate TBI mods (found under tech articles on front page).

ZZ4 cam, roller rockers and lifters.., ported heads 1.94/1.6, Edelbrock performer TBI manifold, ultimate mods, 55# injectors, chip, open element filter, headers, NO cat, 3" cat-back, ram air
for someone on a budget... INTAKE AND EXHAUST, is where the power is... headers are a MUST, if you even wanna think about power, and then you gotta hit it to the TBI, ultimate mods, spacers, .... it's there, you just gotta open up the air-flow
